Code Style is a collection of articles, test pages, samples and examples of Cascading Style Sheets, XHTML, Java servlets and other Web technologies. The name Code Style suggests an approach to coding, Web design and development that adopts a robust, standards-oriented style with an eye for optimum compatibility and accessibility.

Code Style is not intended to be ostentatious or "cool" in design; its aim is to demonstrate techniques from which authors can borrow and designs that can be adapted to other purposes. Code Style is written to the XHTML 1.0 Strict DTD and all the visual presentation is provided through Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), see Code Style CSS for more information.

Code Style originated as an informal, personal project to document a range of sometimes hard-won knowledge, techniques and workarounds acquired from practical Web projects. Hopefully it will be a useful reference for others too.

What it's not

Code Style is not a copy-and-paste code repository. Although working examples can be found throughout the site, authors are encouraged to study and adapt the sample code to their purposes, see Code Style help and FAQs for some outline debugging advice.

Code Style is not a comprehensive reference or tutorial for HTML, CSS Java or any other Internet technology. The articles published here assume the reader has some grounding in Web development and will typically focus on a specific practical aspect of these technologies.
